Windmill Světlík

It lies at area of Horní Podluží village, near the town of Varnsdorf. The previous settlement of Světlík went down after the 2nd World War. Now the mill stands practically alone, on a meadow next to the Světlík pond. The pond is an outstanding example of a wildlife preserve with beautiful fauna and flora.

The windmill is characteristic to that of Dutch style windmills.
It was built in 1843 and worked till approximately 1945. It is one of the biggest which have come down and it is the only one keeping part of inner equipment preserved.

The cylindrical building has a diameter of 10.5 m and a height of 14 m. The mill has a five-wing propeller and rotary roof construction. Stone masonry is used for enclosure walls. Solid wood floors are born by massive wooden beams in both floors.
The rotary roof makes use of
a double-system of iron rollers; the outer one is supporting and the inner one is centring. The surface of the wings is formed by wooden splints with mechanism of central adjusting. Significant parts of mill gearings and fittings are preserved in the interior of the mill.

Wind propeller with moving splints, drive shafts with gears and rotary roof of the windmill are in operation.
